Last month, I decided to put a halt on some of my businesses for a month or two. I wanted to take a step back, and see if there’s something I may need to change. I’ve been running the same programs, and making little changes based on what I wanted or was advised to, as opposed to also taking into consideration the suggestions of the customers. I decided to have a rethink of everything – customer service, products/services, websites and so on. In the end, I made a couple changes to The SKA Group, Pearl Kreations, CollegeTix and Datlik.

For The SKA Group, ever since I envisioned it, I’ve described as a mammoth. I realize now that my description have been grandiose. I’m leaning towards a more humble profile which will be revealed in September under ska redefined 2013. It’s profile also mentioned it is headquartered in Canada. I chose Canada because the vision was conceived here, and well, also because I live here. Recently, I’ve been considering Nigeria, Brazil, and even Togo as well, for sentimental reasons. Either way, I’ll need to make a decision on the headquarter(s) soon. While I decide, I’ve closed down the website. It was nice to have it. I drew inspiration from it, got to picture everything as I would love it, and sort of gave life to something that has been in my head. It even inspired a few friends to dream big as well :). I can’t wait to have the revamped version back up soon.

Pearl Kreations was my first baby, and now, it is this collectibles manufacturing company which deals in the production of button-badges and lapel pins for a variety of events and purposes. Everything is fine, except for the lapel pins part. We went to compete in that market to increase revenue, and we did, but I don’t like the product, at all. I love buttons. I love designing and I love making them. Once business resumes, we are scraping lapel pins and sticking to buttons, which is what we are famous for. The website was also closed down for an upgrade in order to streamline the business, and accommodate online shopping and payments.

Sylver Productions is my version of a think tank. It is an innovative firm which provides unique products and services. We started with Citymail™, the in-city specialty courier service, and then developed CollegeTix™, the premier online event management platform exclusively designed for college and university events, Datlik™, the proofreading service for articles, essays, projects, webpages and more, and lastly, Wefyl™, the electronic document filing/management service. Business was good, but I didn’t like that the products weren’t getting the most recognition, the company was. I mean it’s cool the company was, but the services needed the most recognition. For example, with CollegeTix, I would hear people say things like,”I got my tickets from sylverpro.com” or “Can we use sylverpro.com for our ticket sales?” instead of CollegeTix. Datlik also had a brand recognition problem. The company is more popular than its services. I’ve been thinking, may be that issue arose from the fact that the services were sub-links; that is, collegetix.sylverpro.com and datlik.sylverpro.com. Another issue I’ve been having is I think their names aren’t catchy enough for the target demographic (college students). I’m playing around with a few “cool”, new names at the moment. There will be a new post when I’ve made a decision, or in case I need to take a survey. Needless to say, those sites are also down until further notice.

I guessed some people may have wondered where PK, SP, and possibly SKA were, so I figured I’d tell; it’s the least I could do, while they’re being rebooted. They’ll be back on soon, so stay tuned! Ciao.

Happy 2012! I wish everyone a more blessed and prosperous new year 🙂

Most schools resumed unusually early this year, so I decided to start this new year with a post on Datlik; like I did for CollegeTix. Datlik is the most recent service added to Sylver Productions’ portfolio. An ex-classmate once told me that her lecturer once told the class and I quote, “Whatever you’re doing for free right now, somewhere in the world, someone is getting paid for that service; if you’re good at it, why not get paid for it?”. I can proofread anything and personally, I enjoy it. I used to proofread essays for my colleagues in school with or without their permission lol. I just couldn’t help myself. I apparently did a good job on all of them because no one ever lost marks to typos. The thought came, I have a media firm, might as well add it to the company’s services.

Initially, it was called the EP-Reader Initiative; EP for essay and project. I gave it that geeky name because I wanted it to be a software. A software much like Microsoft Word that could not only proofread, but additionally correct errors. After consulting various friends with degrees in computer science, software engineering and technology, I realized it could not be done. I decided to hire myself, people like myself who enjoyed proofreading as well as English language graduates and majors to work as proofreaders.

Datlik is a name I came up with when I was a lot younger. I was infatuated with computer software and hoped to invent one someday. In the event that I did, I’d call it datlik. I didn’t study computer science and I figured now was as good a time as ever, so I changed the name of the idea from EP-Reader Initiative to something shorter and simpler – Datlik. It is a proofreading service that essentially checks, corrects, manages and/or reviews inconsistency as well as errors in punctuation, spelling, tenses and wordage in electronic documents (blog posts, books, essays, journals, online articles, reports) and web content for students, web managers and writers.

Last year I planned three campaigns; two for CollegeTix and one for Datlik – The Second Look Campaign. In order to get the word out on the service, it started right on schedule (January 7th), and it will continue for another week. I got as many people as cared to participate involved. If you didn’t know about any of the campaigns and would like to help, please follow this link for all the information you’ll need. Thanks a lot in advance. It is being done to primarily advertise the service to students. The tagline is: As a student, you know how much it sucks to lose marks to grammar or spelling mistakes; let us take a second look at your blog post, essay, online article or journal before everyone else esp. your professor does at datlik.sylverpro.com. Like it says on the website, students are not promised perfect scores on their essays and projects (because we do not tamper with their ideas), but they definitely will not lose any marks for poor grammar or spelling mistakes.

I decided to include web content because sometimes web designers are not as interested in the wordage on websites as they are in the design. I figured we might as well offer them the service so they can have their sites professionally proofread, and to the owners as they might want their sites’ contents managed as well. Writers were included because Sylver Productions publishes ebooks, and the final stage of the publishing process is proofreading, so we might as well offer the whole package. We also offer the service to writers of online publications like blogs and ejournals; the last thing they’d want is to lose credibility with their online audience because of a few typos.

That’s about it. If you’re a student, web manager or writer, please feel free to use Datlik. It’s easy and the pricing is quite reasonable too. To fellow entrepreneurs and aspirants, Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Enthusiasm is one of the most powerful engines of success. When you do a thing, do it with all your might. Put your whole soul into it. Stamp it with your own personality. Be active, be energetic and faithful, and you will accomplish your object. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm”.

This is a new year with new possibilities; don’t you ever give up.

sp campaigns

All campaigns involve the participants (students and non-students alike) changing their avatars/display photos/profile pictures to the posters, and also changing their personal messages/status messages to one of the two specific messages (sentences or one-liners) that go with each campaign. Let’s spread the word!

Phase One (December 10th, 2011)

The “You’ve Dulled” Campaign is for CollegeTix

The “You’ve Dulled” messages: “Post Uni Events Online For Free via linkor “CollegeTix has the largest selection of college/university events from all around the world and now students can post their events for free so it’s easier to find and share them with others via link“. Please follow link for visual aid.

Phase Two (December 22nd, 2011)

The “Bored? Pick & Choose” Campaign is for CollegeTix

The “Bored? Pick & Choose” messages: “Bored? Pick and choose from the largest selection of events for college and university students in the world via link” or “Bored? Select events from our vast selection via link“. Please follow link for visual aid.

Phase Three (January 7th, 2012)

The “Second Look” Campaign is for Datlik

The “Second Look” Campaign messages: “Stop losing marks and credibility for inconsistency, poor grammar or spelling mistakes in your essays, web pages and work: datlik.sylverpro.com” or “Say bye to losing marks and credibility in your essays and work: datlik.sylverpro.com”.

Once again, thank you in advance if you decide to help. God bless you 🙂

By God’s grace, since graduating last month, my brain has been bubbling with ideas (brain children) for Sylver Productions, and I have been working my behind off trying to keep up – following the dreams with action! One of such ideas is CollegeTix which I conceived as a practically free platform to assist student groups and student promoters sell tickets for their events and shows conveniently – online! It is going to be one of the services offered by Sylver Productions LLC. I’m happy to announce that with the addition of CollegeTix, the think tank firm is finally going to be fully operational! In case this is your first time hearing about the Sylver Productions, it was first introduced in August, 2010 in think tank.

Anyway, so far we’ve developed CollegeTix™ (formerly, CollegeTicks) and Datlik™ (formerly, EP-Reader™ Initiative), and now, it’s undergoing a revamp to relaunch its services. This redefinition consists of new logos, new products/services and new websites. The company’s new motto/slogan is now The Blade of Innovation™ from The Sword of the Media. This is its new logo:

SylverPro

                                                                                                                                                                                 logo- collegetix_2logo- datlik_2

CollegeTix™: It is an online event hosting and e-ticketing service. It is being built into the premier online promotion and ticket sales platform exclusively for college and university events and programs. Here is a short clip introducing the service.

Datlik™: It is a proofreading service in which our skilled proofreaders check and review electronic documents for grammatical errors, mistakes in punctuation, spelling errors and typos. Any errors are found in either wordage, tenses, punctuation or spelling will be corrected. Some copy-editing issues such as inconsistency may be also be reviewed and corrected.

Another brainchild for Sylver Productions is CityMail, a specialty courier service. For this venture, I will be partnering strategically with Ayo B*. It is still in the developmental stages so I can’t say much about it. I will though, at the right time.

This summer, I’ll be working with Cotta Red Creative Studio to create an interactive website which will make event registration, event hosting, online ticket purchasing and document uploads for filing, printing, proofreading and publishing painless. The new site will be launched in September. Handing the the branding and web functionality is Jae Olaf of Cotta Red – I profiled her under inspitories x.

Apart from starting new things, I’m also finishing things I started, but got distracted from. For one, I’m finally going to complete the new website for The SKA Group. The former ‘under construction’ site has been changed to a rough, blueprint which can be viewed at via this link. I’m also re-branding Pearl Kreations yet again – logo and website. Cotta Red Creative Studio is also handling those projects. The Pearl Kreations, Sylver Productions and The SKA Group projects should all be completed in September, by God’s grace.

I may also soon to be the entrepreneurship/small business columnist for The Weekly World. I’m thinking I might have to lift, mix and match some of my older posts for the first few articles, but they will be obviously more poise and official. Let’s see how all that goes 🙂
